memorial weekend, big bear

going along with a big group has never been my thing, especially with 4 children, a pregnant woman, and a few others in their high 30's. however, it's been a while since my last visit to big bear. during the memorial weekend, i was able to get a lot done and visit alot of places by myself and along with a couple of friends. while most of them were still sleeping (until 9:30am) i was able to get out early at 6 and enjoy fresh air and some really nice views.

everyone left on sunday for work and school, but stephanie and i stay until monday. we took this opportunity to get some bomb! breakfast, go hiking, drive around the lake, watch the sunset and stroll around the village of big bear.

moonridge coffee has the best pumpkin spice latte i've had. they also carry local root beer and soda, which i didn't pick up. but i'll definitely come back next time

hiking at cougar crest trail (5-6 miles round trip). if i remember correctly, i slip and almost trip 8 times.

.25 miles left to the peak. this trail has some chairs around the edge to rest and to gaze at nature.

Catching up...

I'm flying out to Fayetteville, NC tomorrow to go on an "across the country road trip" with my brother, father, and father's friend. It's rather a rare and unique, once in a life time, opportunity, to do this. I'm excited like never before. It's 8:00 PM now and my flight is 5:00AM, yet I still haven't packed yet haha. But before that, I feel that this blog has been neglected for the past few months. So, these pictures here are just a fraction of what/who/where/when/why/how of the past few months. I hope to find some more time to take pictures and blog in the near future.

If you like chocolate milk, this is it for you. Family in the business for more or less than 100 years and their yelp rating is a perfect 5. Enough said..

While gardening, a piece of rusted metal stabbed by a piece of my foot and sliced its way through. The wound is no big deal, but it was one inch away from having my Achilles torn. Thank God big time for this one.

Initially I hated the idea of throwing salt and chili into my beer, but I caved in thanks to curiosity. The drink tastes pretty good, but it's so bad for your health. Anyways, this was taken when the Dodgers swept the giants. with/ Phillip and Luke

After Dodgers games, we usually get ramen, taco, pizza, or whatever we feel like eating.

At home, harvest occurs everyday. It varies and differs everyday. But we always harvest. There is so much now that we can't keep up with it. So every weekend, we bring most of it for the church.

Thanks to some dude. As much as I like my Lunarglide 3, these Pegasus 32 fits better.

Another year, another opportunity to go camping and serve as a driver for the church. I'm getting older now. As you get older, your energy level dwindles away. Hobbies and past times are "I want to be alone" time. Your thought process changes and you begin to be selective more than ever before. Throughout this camping trip, I've learn a lot about human nature. That is, a lot of people can be pretty selfish. Unlike other years, not many people attended this year. Because of that, Lai and I had to put ourselves out there to work hard so people can enjoy this trip. Many just come and go as they're please. That means, Lai and I set up the tent and clean up after them. The U-Haul is basically a "trash can" for us to carry their load and clean up. Which is kinda sad.

Anyways, back to the camp...  The weather during the day is ideal, ranging from 68 to 76 degrees. Despite being in the middle of mountains, it was t-shirt all day kind of weather. Which is really nice. But at night, the weather drops down to 45-50 degree. I had to use two blankets and hoodie to sleep. Many others couldn't sleep because they did not anticipate this kind of weather. After all, los angeles (at that time) was scorching at 95-100 degrees.

Hydro Flask bottles are very durable and comes in very handy. Do you want to keep your cold water for two days straight, regardless of the environment? Buy this brand. Problem solved.

After an extremely short hike, David taught this kids a few things or two.

 I'm out of touch with the education system, but for them to bring homework over Labor Day weekend to catch up say a lot.
